Consider this quote from UWI'S Pro Vice Chancellor & Campus Principal, Prof. Clement Sankat: "Young people will only get involved in agriculture if they recognize their countries have a genuine commitment to agriculture. Even if there is a serious push into agriculture, the youths of today will not get into the traditional forms. They will only be drawn to it if technology is deployed to make farming easier…You have to re-engineer not only how you're going to harvest. Young people want to drive an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) with their IPod in their ears. Nothing wrong with that!"

The Professor's words is profound – and very, very true. Are we doing enough (using more mechanical tools and equipment; getting more task-driven organized groups, providing start-up finance and other concessions, serious mentoring,; etc, etc,??) Would love to get feedback on the subject. Thank you in advance
