Dangleben Joins Ranks of Fully Qualified Cricket Umpire

Special Constable Lennie Dangleben has become Dominica's latest fully qualified cricket umpire, having successfully passed the oral and practical examination, with a pass mark of 82%, of the West Indies Cricket Umpires' Association held in St. Lucia in December 2012.

Ever since becoming a member of the Dominica Cricket Umpires Association, Dangleben showed a keen interest as a young umpire by attending regular training sessions and answering all calls to officiate in as many matches as he possibly could. That helped him achieve his goal of becoming a fully qualified umpire. He had high praise for his tutors Lennox Abraham, Billy Doctrove and Cuthbert Joseph, who guided him on his way to success.

To become a fully qualified umpire, one must first pass the final written examination of the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association, and must also be successful in the oral and practical examination which follows one year after. Presently there are five young umpires who are now being trained to do the oral and practical examinations; they were all successful in the final written exams.

The Dominica Cricket Umpires Association was formed in 1965 and is headed by Lennox Abraham who is now a leading umpire in the region.
