The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Dominica, in collaboration with the Cultural Division, will host the Second Annual E.O. Leblanc Memorial Lecture on Thursday, October 3, 2013 commencing at 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Young Hotel Conference Room.

This year's presenter, Dr. Lennox Honychurch, will speak on the topic: "Edward Oliver Leblanc and the Creation of Nationalist History." Dr. Honychurch, a Historian, has made significant contributions in the fields of Caribbean culture and history since 1981 and has published several books on Caribbean culture and history.
Dr. Honychurch will review E.O. Leblanc's efforts to guide Dominicans to learn about their historical roots and to respect the work of national figures such as CEA Rawle, Clifton Dupigny and the maroons in the face of years of learning history through the British perspective.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will provide an opportunity for guests to listen to the speaker present for about 40 minutes. Following the presentation, guests will be able to interact and to generate meaningful discussions about the influence of the topic on the Caribbean region.
