Former Police Superintendent Nicholas George is to be the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) candidate for the Colihaut constituency, Q95 radio has announced.

Since his retirement, from the Dominica Police Force, George has been a member of the Dominica Council of Aged.

George is likely to be come up against educationist Catherine Daniel who has been identified as the possible Dominica Labour Party (DLP) candidate for Colihaut. The incumbent parliamentary representative Ronald Toulon has indicated that he will not contest the seat when the next general elections are held.

General election is constitutionally due in 2015 but there is widespread speculation that Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will announce soon that elections will be held in early 2014.
