Three days of fun, gifts, Santa Claus and things "Christmasee" enlivened the Botanic Gardens when Kairi FM presented the first-ever Nature Island Christmas Wonderland (NICW), an event that replicated the activities of the successful annual LIME Creole in the Park. There was music, performances, exhibitions and food-even the venue was the same.

This NICW was held from 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm on December 17 – 19.

The children who weren't too wrapped up with games spent time and took photographs with famous television characters such as: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, the Minions and Elsa from Frozen.

Irene John, the Mayor of Roseau welcomed this new initiative stating that the three days of activities would linger in the minds of every person who visited the Christmas Wonderland.

It will certainly make the Christmas experience more joyful for the younger ones, said John.

She said the event brought families together.

Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Central Constituency Joseph Isaac said he was extremely proud of Kairi FM for embarking on this initiative.

"There is always a situation where we as Dominicans need to come together especially during the Christmas season," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Minister for Social Services, Family and Gender Affairs Justina Charles said as we prepare to celebrate Christmas, we should remember that we also celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

"As we know we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ we celebrate love, unity, peace, togetherness and forgiveness all of those things that are so important in promoting healthy family life," said Charles.

Charles urged people that during the Christmas celebrations remember the families who were affected by Tropical Storm Erika.

"Let us see if we can reach out to one of those who has been dislocated; let us see if we can help them to enjoy Christmas in a different environment this year," she said.

The Nature Island Christmas Wonderland was organized by Kairi FM Dominica in collaboration with sponsors: Digicel, Dominica, Jolly's Pharmacy, Fair Trade Limited and Burton and Company Limited.
