KINGSTON, Jamaica – Chris Gayle, playing in his 100th Test match, made 64 but West Indies surrendered a big first innings lead against New Zealand on Day 3 of the first Test at Sabina Park on Tuesday.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, playing his 154th Test, topscored with 84 not out off 138 balls with 13 boundaries. Denesh Ramdin, in his first game as skipper, made 39 in a sixth-wicket stand of 72 with Chanderpaul as West Indies were bowled out for 262.

This game New Zealand a first innings lead of 246 – following their first innings score of 508-7 declared. The visitors will resume Wednesday on 14-2 – an overall lead of 260 runs.
