2014: Politics in Overdrive
Take a look back with the Sun at the major events of 2014
As the Dominican economy continued to nose dive in 2014, some politicians became almost feral in a battle to own a bigger share of a smaller cake, especially in the lead up to general election 2014.
Politics, therefore, dominated the news in 2014 as Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit kept the population involved in a game of guess-the- date for the next general election until he revealed it on 5th November. Elections were held on 8th December 2014.
Apart from politics, other events captured our attention in 2014 such the brutal murder of a woman in Portsmouth, Dominica's adoption of the Caribbean Court of Justice as our finale appellate court and Dice's continuing dominance of the Calypso stage.
In the following stories and photographs, we review these events and many more in our Special Year-ender 2014.
