Minister of Tourism and Urban Renewal Robert Tonge has presented Christmas gifts to less fortunate children through the "Enchanted Christmas" experience which was held at the Peebles Park on December 20.

Tonge, in collaboration with his non-profit organization "Destination Dominica", presented more than 400 children with a variety of gifts from Toys R Us.

The children presented with gifts were from the primary schools in the Roseau District.

Tonge presented gifts to children from the following schools: Petite Savanne Primary, Convent Preparatory, St Martin Primary, Newtown Primary, Roseau Primary, St Mary's Primary, Goodwill Primary and Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist Primary.

Tonge said the "Enchanted Christmas" was the first of its kind and prior to the event businessman Emile Depooter lighted up Peebles Park.

"In terms of the gift giving this is the first time around prior to that Emile Depooter and myself lighted the Peebles Park for two years in a row," he said.

In addition, Tonge stated that this venture was costly.

'These are quality gifts on average US$25 – US$30 per gift. I am really proud that we were able to get these gifts, US$9000 plus the cost to ship which was not cheap," said Tonge.

The venture cost about $30, 000 - $40, 000.
