Fire officers saved records of psychiatrist's patients

A mid-morning fire on Saturday destroyed the office of psychiatrist Dr. Griffin Benjamin.

Severin McKenzie, Dr. Benjamin's friend told DBS news that the psychiatrist was out of Dominica when his office burnt.

"The interior of the building is completely gutted. His filing cabinet with the records of his patients appear to be safe," McKenzie said. "It looks like significant damage."

McKenzie praised fire officers for acting swiftly; they may have saved the two adjacent buildings.

The cause of the fire and the cost have not yet been determined.
