Scotiabank has again this year pledged its support to Dominica's youth by awarding two students with scholarships to attend secondary school this September. Malik Anthony of Bath Estate and Asher Laudat of Kingshill were the two newest additions to Scotiabank's Scholarship programme which was re-established since 2013.

Malik is a former student of the St. Mary's Primary School and will begin his high school career at the St. Mary's Academy in September 2016. Sarah Anthony, Malik's mother, proudly spoke of her son as being a well-rounded individual with a keen interest in various forms of sports. Sarah has been a customer of Scotiabank for over a decade and was truly thankful for the Bank's contribution to Malik's education. Malik has committed to making his family and the Bank proud as he continues to excel in both academics and extra-curricular activities.

Asher is also a former student of the St. Mary's Primary School, and was in the top ten percentile of his class. He will also attend the St. Mary's Academy in September 2016. "I have taught my son the importance of hard work and dedication and as a result he has excelled in school" said Asher's mom, Judith Laudat. Mrs. Laudat expressed her profound gratitude to the Bank when she said "Being an intelligent student, I want his main focus to be in the best interest of his education. I am thankful to you for making the opportunity available to parents like me to fund an education for our children."

Through Scotiabank's Bright Future Programme, the Bank has made a commitment to assist young people through education, culture, health and sports. The Bank is the longest-standing sponsor of cricket in the region and title sponsor of Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket.

Scotiabank's Country Manager, Paula Harts, extended congratulations to the recipients and their families and offered words of encouragement as they begin this new chapter. "Scotiabank realizes the importance of investing in the education of our youth as they are the leaders of tomorrow, and so today we are extremely proud to be a part of the nation's development by presenting these scholarships to these two very deserving students. On behalf of the Management and staff of Scotiabank, congratulations to you both and we wish you continued success in your educational journey."
