Steven LaRocque, the Chief Elections Officer, says all systems are ready for the bye-election in the Soufriere Constituency on June 7, 2016.

LaRocque also disclosed that 50 new persons were registered when the writ for the bye-election was issued on May 9, 2016.

According to LaRocque, the President of Dominica His Excellency Charles Savarin issued a Writ for the holding of the bye-election on May 9, 2016.

"The electors list to be used for the bye-election comprise of the November 30, 2015 final list and the supplementary list published on May 13, 2016 totaling 3,431 names with the final list having 3,381 and the supplementary list 50 new registrants," LaRocque said.

He also said the Electoral Office is looking at the possibilities of increasing the polling stations ( at the moment there are 11) so that voters of Gallion can remain in their area instead of travelling to Soufriere.

LaRocque added that his department has had to make some changes in the number of poll clerks and the registering officers.

"We have had to make certain changes for various reasons…and so we are right on top of the entire election process, all systems are go and we are set and ready," he said. "The lists were printed and distributed to the registering and assistant registering officers on Saturday May 14, 2016 for posting in the constituency…all materials required for conducting the June 7, 2016 poll are ready."
