Dominica Weathermen: Watch the Weather

From tonight, Dominican meteorologists say, weak unstable conditions will continue to produce cloudiness, scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms across parts of the island chain.

Although on Tuesday there will be a relative improvement in conditions, it will be short-lived before the approach of a Tropical System on Wednesday, a report released by the met office this evening stated.

The met office added: "Moderate sea conditions are expected during the next 24 hours with waves peaking near 7.0 feet. Thereafter, seas are expected to deteriorate late Tuesday into Thursday peaking near 14.0 feet. All sea users and persons living near the coast are advised to take the necessary precautionary measures.

"Meanwhile, a westward moving tropical wave accompanied by a broad low pressure area is located in the Tropical Atlantic and expected in our area on Wednesday. Development of this disturbance is expected and a Tropical Depression could form later this week. High winds, rough seas and moderate to heavy rainfall are expected with this system. Interests in Dominica should closely monitor the progress of this system and take all the necessary precautions to protect life and property".
