Guye, 2013 Island Scholar goes to McGill University
Denzel Guye, the 2013 Island Scholarship winner, will be attending McGill University in Canada to study Materials Engineering. Guy won the scholarship with A-Level distinctions (As) in Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry and General Paper.
As an Island Scholar, Guye joins an eminent group of Island Scholarship winners who have gone on to distinguished careers in their respective fields. Denzel is the son of Mrs & Mrs Darnley Guye of Roseau, and grandson of Allan Guye, Senior Agricultural Officer in the Botanic Gardens several years ago.
Denzel is the 4th student from the St Mary's Academy to win the Island Scholarship in the past five years.
However, it is the Convent High School that has been the top performer in the recent past, gaining eight Island Scholarships in the past 15 years. These two Catholic schools have won 12 of the 15 annual Island Scholarships in the past 15 years.
