Roseau, Dominica – January 6, 2014 –LIME Dominica has responded positively to a request from the Ministry of Information & Telecommunications to support their efforts to improve efficiencies at key departments within the Ministry.

A donation of ten tablets from LIME Dominica is expected to assist with this initiative. The tablets, presented to the Government Information Service (GIS), the Dominica Broadcasting Corporation (DBS), and the Ministry of Telecoms put these institutions in a better position to carry out their daily functions.

LIME's General Manager, Jeffrey Baptiste says as the company's most important stakeholder and top customer, with 20% shareholdings in Cable & Wireless (trading as LIME), any request from government in that regard would be given favorable consideration. "We are extremely happy to support this request from the Ministry of Telecoms in their efforts to make use of advanced communication tools to improve their work output" said Mr. Baptiste in making the official presentation to Minister for Information & Telecommunications Ambrose George.

Mr. George thanked LIME for the contribution of tablets, stating that both GIS & DBS will benefit tremendously from their use for field work exercises. The Telecoms minister also noted that technological advancements are moving at a quick pace and Dominica needs to keep up with the change in technology which is taking place. "And in order to do so, we need to have the relevant equipment required to keep up with that technology", he said. The Minister noted further, that through the donation from LIME, it is expected that the Government Information Service & Dominica Broadcasting Corporation will experience a tremendous difference both in efficiency and proficiency as far as their field work is concerned.

The Senior Information Officer at GIS Mervin Paul confirmed that the tablets will contribute to better execution of the work produced at that institution. He also extended his gratitude to the General Manager of LIME for the gesture. Shermaine Green of DBS radio extended her thanks to LIME and to the Ministry for including DBS in the list of recipients.
