I want to commend Dr. Irving Pascal for his remarkable article in the issue of the SUN, dated June 1, 2014, entitled 'Does Dominica Have a Colour Problem?' It is not often that we have articles with such profound insight. Most of our concerns have to do with the pragmatic. However, in reality, human beings usually operate on a level beyond the pragmatic. This is often not self-evident. However, their actions reveal much about their inner selves.

We need more attempts made to challenge the often infantile tendencies of our people on which our political leaders capitalize. A tremendous task of educating people must be undertaken. People need to be drawn away from the seduction of exaggerated sentimentality and ruthless confrontation, hallmarks of a people's insecurity and lack of humanity.

Yours truly, Clement S. Jolly, C.Ss.R.
